Job Description

This manager job within HMPPS HQ involves providing crucial advice on policing issues within prisons, with a particular focus on Category A prisoners, High Security Estate matters, threats to life, and criminal gang issues. Key responsibilities include advising HMPPS, HMPS Police, and other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), developing the role of prison intelligence officers, and acting as a Single Point Of Contact (SPOC) for intelligence exchange concerning Category A prisoners and threats to life. The successful candidate will also manage Operational Guidance Documents (OGDs) related to threats, gangs, and LEA intelligence within the High Security estate, and provide Police Adviser attendance in HMPPS Gold Command suite during major incidents.

Requirements

• Knowledge of and attendance on appropriate courses for Covert Policing and Intelligence Management.
• Completed PAS PIO Course.
• Post holder must be vetted to SC, Strap 2 level.
• Experience in advising on criminal intelligence and investigation matters, including 24/7 response capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage staff and set performance objectives.
• Applicants must either have the existing right to work in the UK or be eligible for Skilled Worker (Tier 2) visa sponsorship, which is available for this role.
