Applications Open for 2026-2027 Chevening Scholarships to Study in UK
The Chevening Scholarships programme, which offers fully funded master's degrees to future leaders from around the world to study in the UK, has opened its application window for the 2026 to 2027 academic year. Prospective students from eligible countries, including India, can submit their applications between August 4 and October 6, 2026.
Chevening is the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations. The scholarships support study at UK universities, primarily for one-year master's degrees, and are awarded to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential who also have strong academic backgrounds.
While the initial announcement specifically highlighted Indian students, Chevening Scholarships are open to citizens of over 160 countries and territories, including Nigeria and many other African nations. The programme aims to develop global leaders by offering them the opportunity to study a range of subjects at top UK universities.
For Nigerian and other African immigrants and prospective immigrants in the UK, the Chevening Scholarship offers a significant pathway to access higher education and professional development, potentially leading to enhanced career opportunities and contributions to their home countries and the UK. The scholarship covers university tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, return airfare to the UK, and other necessary grants.
