How to Prepare
For Nigerian and African immigrants targeting a Civil Service role like this Development Coach position, meticulous preparation is key. Ensure your CV is polished, highlighting your coaching and leadership experience in a UK-friendly format, and tailor your LinkedIn profile to reflect these skills. Given the public service nature, emphasize any experience with diverse user groups or administrative support.
Be ready to discuss your eligibility for the Skilled Worker visa during the interview. While this role has specific transitional provisions for sponsorship, clearly articulate your understanding of these rules and how your previous visa history (if applicable) aligns. Preparing for a Civil Service role often involves demonstrating a commitment to public service values and an understanding of government operations.
- Thoroughly review the full job description and the Civil Service success profiles.

- Practice articulating your right-to-work status or eligibility for the Skilled Worker visa, especially concerning the 22 July 2025 transitional provisions.
